The Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation presents the 10th annual Sip Swirl & Savor. This tasty wine dinner and auction has raised almost $600,000 for student scholarships and program support over the last nine years. The word at the event was this was thought to be a record year for funds raised. Although the evening had a greater purpose, it was deliciously disguised as a decadent wine dinner.

Over the years, attendees have come to expect the five thoughtful courses precisely paired with remarkable wines. Once again, this year, we weren’t disappointed. The memorable meal was planned, prepared and served by the Culinary Arts and Hospitality students with the support of the talented college staff. Guests arrived at Sip Swirl & Savor to a champagne reception and perused silent auctions items. One of most popular places was the (Mostly Red) Wall of Wines. For $20 (or 3 for $50) guests chose a cork which gave them a numbered mystery bottle of wine from the wall. All the wines were valued at $20+ with some pricey wines hidden on the wall.

Bravo to the procurement staff as the auction items were plentiful and creatively packaged creating maximum interest. Silent Auction items utilized Mobile Bidding and a tech staff was on hand to assist. With the focus on higher education, area colleges and universities showed their support with in-demand auction packages ranging from signed memorabilia to hard-to-get tickets. The high-end Live Auction packages ranged from a Maui Getaway to an Apple Cup Fan-xtravaganza.

The well attended Sip Swirl & Savor is always a sell-out as the culinary and hospitality students are attentive hosts. Attendees were sufficiently wined & dined and a good time was had by all.  For more information on supporting the foundation, go to

In the kitchen is where the magic happens as staff and students prepared, plated and served five decadent courses, pouring the just right wine with each. Behind the scenes, the kitchen was a well choreographed symphony.

Back by popular demand was the popular Cocktail Auction. Libations were hand-crafted by Cody Winfrey, Santé & Cocktails by Cody and Chef Robert Lombardi, SCC. Each table had a chance to bid on the fabulous handcrafted cocktails which were promptly delivered to the winning tables.
