A Memorial Evening under the Stars
This special evening was an opportunity to gather and support the simple goal of having every North Idaho baby reaches their first birthday. The magical evening benefited the Inland Northwest SIDS Foundation, whose focus is to educate new parents, caregivers and medical professionals on safe infant sleep practices. The Inland NW SIDS Foundation provides support for families with those who have experienced a pregnancy or infant loss. The support eases the unimaginable heartache that accompanies Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Idaho has high numbers for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This passionate foundation aims to end that.
The picturesque setting was provided by Elk Point, which is perched high above majestic Lake Coeur d’Alene. The inspiring venue with the mountain backdrop set the tone for a spectacular evening. Attendees raved at the beauty as Elk Point provides a stunning rural setting for memorable events.
It Takes a Community:
Like many community causes this foundation came to fruition out a personal experience that sparked change. Liz Montgomery, Inland NW SIDS Foundation Executive Director honored the tragedy of losing her son to save lives, one family at a time. Truly a community cause for change requires community support and North Idaho showed up and generously gave.
Libby Russell and her Happy Camper Photo Booth truly brought the party. Guests can’t not have fun in the photo camper. The mobile prop and pose photo booth was a big hit with guests who checked in and immediately approached the sweet camper to participate. The silent auction, hosted bar ,and music provided by No Going Back Band, allowed arriving guests to mingle and bid on creative, and baskets of desirable items.
Dining al fresco:
Dinner was lovely and the the outdoor dining was delightful with the view at times stealing the show. Hearty pastas and creative salads were perfect for the warm summer night and local beer and wine were poured. Thanks to Centennial Distributing, Lancaster Market, Daft Badger, Idaho Wine Merchant, Glamma Wine and the Inland Northwest SIDS Foundation Board of Directors for generously donating the libations. Dandelion Bakery provided bite sized desserts and cake pops providing a sweet finish to the meal.
Michael Montoya of Ruby Frog Entertainment was the auctioneer and local royalty acted as spotters as the bidding numbers were raised for many coveted experiences. A Zags ticket package, 2-night lake cabin stay and a chef catered boat tour of 50 were just a few of the notable live auction items. Both the silent and live auction ideas provided a buzz of activity as did the Heads & Tales activity. Beads were purchase throughout the evening and after playful coin tosses the winner won a iPad Air 2 and solar charging backpack, courtesy of Next Gen Electric.
The Inland NW SIDS Foundation is estimating approximately $30,000 was raised. The foundation thanks everyone for their generosity and for believing is their life saving mission. A big thank you to bankcda for being the presenting sponsor for this matter of life and death cause.
